2022 has been and continues to be an exciting time for new hotel developments in Scotland, which has experienced a boom in new properties from iconic Scottish brands and international hotel chains.

Edinburgh

Virgin Hotels Edinburgh

Virgin Hotels opened its first European property in Edinburgh on 1st June 2022 in the iconic India Buildings in the city’s Old Town.

The 222-bed hotel has the 18th Century Gothic Greyfriars Church as a unique meeting and events space, hosting up to 150 delegates in theatre format.

The property also benefits from four different dining options including its newest restaurant Eve, which launched on 7th October 2022, the Commons Club Bar and Restaurant and the Funny Library Coffee Shop.

Gleneagles Townhouse

Also opened in June 2022 was Gleneagles Townhouse, the first property outside of Perthshire in the hotel brand’s 100-year history.

The 33-bed luxury hotel is located in the heart of St Andrew Square, a stone’s throw away from the city’s infamous Princes Street, and has five intimate event spaces, which can hold up to 25 delegates.

The luxury hotel also includes an all-day restaurant, members’ club and roof terrace, with spectacular views across St Andrew Square. The property is a five-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverly train station.

Glasgow

Revolver Hotel

Revolver Hotel opened its doors on 15th August 2022, in the heart of Glasgow’s, Merchant City, with a mission to boost the city’s LGBTQ+ scene.

Virgin Hotels Glasgow

Hot on the heels of its first European property in Edinburgh, Virgin will open its new property in Glasgow on 1st December 2022.

The new hotel, which is located on the bank of the River Clyde, will offer 240 rooms and will benefit from eight distinctive events spaces, the largest capable of hosting 150 delegates for a reception.

Virgin Hotels Glasgow will also include the Commons Club Restaurant, a co-working and dining space, the Funny Library Coffee Shop and a late-night bar. The property is a five-minute walk from Argyle Street and Glasgow Central train stations.
