Venue: Scottish Event Campus (SEC), Glasgow

In October 2023 (24 - 26 October), the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) brought together engineers, scientists, students, and industry leaders to advance light-based science and technologies.

The three-day event, held at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), featured a wide range of plenary talks, technical presentations showcasing the latest developments and research as well as several networking sessions.

As part of the event, organisations from across the sector including suppliers, consultants, industrial users, researchers, science groups, and innovative start-ups had the opportunity to take part in a two-day exhibition.

Aileen Crawford, Head of Glasgow Convention Bureau, Glasgow Life said: "Conferences are vitally important to the city of Glasgow, both economically and for the global reputation of the city. Glasgow hosts over 500 conferences a year, attracting over 120,000 delegates, and they bring an economic impact of £100 million to the local economy through delegate spend. Hosting conferences like SPIE Photonex helps showcase Glasgow and Scotland on the global stage and supports the growing space sector in our country. Glasgow builds more small satellites than any other European city, so being able to bring the world's best minds to Glasgow supports key sectors and the academic community here".
