The continued strength of the sector reflects Scotland’s reputation as a destination where ideas, innovation and collaboration thrive.
The latest results underline the continued strength, resilience and strategic importance of Scotland’s association conference sector, building on a record previous year and reinforcing its contribution to the national economy and wider policy objectives.
The report reveals that 305 association conferences generated £296.7 million in net economic impact, attracting nearly 118,000 delegates and over 400,000 delegate days. International events remain crucial, accounting for 64% of delegates, while a strong UK market ensures a balanced event mix.
The sector also supports regional economies and year-round tourism, with 42% of conferences held between October and March. Scotland’s strengths in academia and key industries, particularly life sciences, continue to drive success.
Rory Archibald, Senior Business Events Manager at VisitScotland, said: “Association conferences continue to be one of Scotland’s most valuable business events assets, bringing together global expertise, driving innovation and creating lasting economic and societal impact. The continued strength of the sector reflects Scotland’s reputation as a destination where ideas, innovation and collaboration thrive. With benefits reaching every part of the country, association conferences play an important role in supporting economic growth, advancing research, and helping Scotland tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges.”
